some time ago i bought a rack with some modules to try something out. its a 314 ifm . one of the modules is a cp340  rs422/485. fascinated by this module i want to know more about it and i found some tutorial about it on the internet. but somehow my project doesnt work.  and although i bought the 314 and cp340 together on the same rack,  i get the sense that the cp340 doesn't work on an 314 ifm,  " it's not compatible"  or so.

The wording is not very clear, but I interpret it as limiting the compatible versions of CPU 314 IFM with a CP 340 to versions of a later firmware than yours.  so your application should not work, as you tested yourself.

i also think that my 314ifm  won't work so i try my 315,  during hardware configuration i notice something (see attachement)  red arrow is pointing to something i'am not sure with, it gives me the sense that there is something not oke.  if i press ctrl+d  everything is oke.  what can it be and how can i find out

In the online view of the HWConfig editor, diagnostic symbols will appear showing status information on the CPU, CP, FM...

The diamond symbol you point to states that your CPU is in RUN mode, without diagnostics. So all is well at this time.
